True strength has a physical component. Strong body equals a strong mind,
which leads to a strong spirit. A healthy life requires balance and a strong
core. ‘Core’ is sometimes a funny, trendy word today, but I personally imagine ‘core’ to represent a tree with deep finger-like roots in the ground.
A person’s core has the same importance.
For these reasons, I find my sanctuary in meditative action. Concentrating
on being present in my moment, breathing deeply, and embracing nature
or things simply as they are. A walk in the woods, yoga, surfing, and martial arts, are what keep me centered and balanced in my life. Being mindful of my breathing keeps me aware of my responsibility to fill my own shoes as a parent, friend, mentor, and actor.
